Almond



 The Almond tree belongs to the plant family Rosaceae ad is cultivated mostly in the USA, Europe and the Mediterranean. It is an average size tree, which grows from 3 to 6 metres high. The matured leaves are greyish, lancoelate, finely serrate and are found on the thorny branches. The flowers are large, white, and tinged with red. They normally appear before the leaves open up from their scaly buds. The fruits are classified as drupes that are velvety with dry pericarps. They open into two halves when mature. The dry seeds are compressed with shallow wrinkles and minute holes.

HOW TO USE:

* The consumption of Almonds has a soothing and sedative effect on the body.
* The milk made from the kernels is beneficial for gastric ulcers. It can be mixed with kale or cabbage juice and sweetened with some honey.
* Almonds can be used safely for gastroenteritis.
* The oil obtained from the kernels can be used externally as a soothing lotion.
* Externally, the ground almond paste is applied as poultice on the lower back regions for relieving kidney pains.
* The same paste can be applied over the face i case of neuralgia.
* Equal parts of almonds and white corn are ground together to make a paste. Daily, this is applied over the spots on the face.
* Almond butter mixed with peanut butter is beneficial for diabetics.
* For falling hair, apply a little almond oil on the scalp frequently and massage.
* To get rid of head lice, grind 6-10 kernels of almond with 2-3 teaspoons of lime juice and rub this mixture into the scalp.
* To improve complexion, mix equal quantities of almond oil and honey and apply on the face.
