Coral Plant

The Coral Plant belonging to the family Euphorbiaceae, is planted as an ornamental shrub. It is 2 to 3 metres high. The leaves are 15 to 20 cm. long, cleft nearly to the base, with 8 to 10 incised lobes. The flowers are coral-red in colour. The fruit is a three-angled, obovoid capsule.

MEDICINAL USE:
*Used for cleansing the bowels.
*Used for indigestion and stomachache.
*Helps cure wounds and ulcers.
*Takes care of scabies.

           
HOW TO USE:
*The seeds of the coral plant act as a strong laxative.
*The decoction of the dry root is recommended for indigestion and stomachache.
*The milky latex is applied over wounds and ulcers.
*The leaves made into a paste are used externally for scabies.

PARTS USED:
*The root, leaves and seeds.

DOSE:
*The root decoction, 10 grams for 1 litre of water. 1 or 2 cups a day. Leaves and seeds, as indicate
  above.

CAUTION:
*Due to the abortifacient properties (causing premature abortion) found in the seeds, this plant must
  be used with caution.
