There are over 1,000 varieties of beans that belong to the plant family Fabaceae or Leguminosae. As the consumption of beans is almost a regular food item in every home; and in as much as the plant is well known in every country, presenting the description of the plant would be redundant.
MEDICINAL USE:
*Lowers blood sugar levels.
*Helps mild cases of diabetes.
*Oedema, sciatica, chronic rheumatism, kidney and bladder problems, uric acid accumulations, and loss of albumin in the urine during pregnancy.
*General malnutrition of weakness.
*Cough.
*Moist eczema, skin rash and itching.
HOW TO USE:
*Bean pods lower blood sugar levels and can be used in mild cases of diabetes. The diet for this
purpose requires that the patient should eat from 6 to 8 kilos of pods a week, cooked as vegetables.
The dried pods are not as effective as the green.
*Bean pod tea is recommended for oedema, sciatica, or shooting pain in the lower back, hip and
thighs, chronic rheumatism, kidney and bladder problems, uric acid accumulations, and loss of albumin in the urine during pregnancy.
*The green pods eaten as food are useful in cases of general malnutrition or weakness. When bruised
and boiled with garlic, beans have been used as a powerful remedy for coughs that are otherwise
incurable.
*Dried beans can be soaked in water, the skin removed, dried again, then ground to powder and
mixed with almond milk. This constitutes a wonderful cosmetic. The paste can be applied directly
to the skin for moist eczema, eruptions, and itching. Every 3 hours the skin should be washed with
Camomile tea, (Matricaria recutita) and fresh paste should be applied. Women in their menstruous
period should abstain from this treatment.
PARTS USED:
*The pods and beans.
