Parsley

Parsley, which belongs to the plant family Apiaceae or Umbelliferae is a biennial herb cultivated in gardens for culinary purposes as it is pleasantly fragrant and spicy. The stem is thin, erect, grooved and angular. The leaves are rosette, bi-or tri-laterally divided and dark green. The flowers are in compound umbels, are and greenish-yellow. The fruits are 2-3 min. long and are crescent shaped. Parsley is a well-known hardy aromatic herb, which grows in rich moist soil.

           

MEDICINAL USE:
*Promotes the flow of urine, work against spasm, expels gas, expels phlegm, promote menstrual
  flow and reduces fever.
*Jaundice, cystitis, piles, oedema, asthma, cough and the removal of gallstone.
*Kills head lice and helps sooth insect bites and stings.
*Wounds and swellings.
*Conjunctivitis and inflammation of the eyelid.
*Fevers, syphilis and gonorrhoea.
*Rheumatism and cancer.

HOW TO USE:
*The consumption of parsley helps promote to the flow of urine, works against spasms, expels gas,  
  expels phlegm, promotes menstrual flow and reduces fever.
*The tea or the juice of the plant, including the seeds, is recommended for jaundice, cystitis or
  inflammation of the bladder, piles, oedema, asthma, cough and the removal of gallstone.
*The application of decoction  of the seeds kills head lice and the leaf paste is applied over bites and
  stings of insects.
*The crushed leaves are applied externally over wounds and swellings.
*The juice of the leaves is a remedy for conjunctivitis and the inflammation of the eyelid.
*The root decoction is recommended for fevers, syphilis and gonorrhoea.
*Parsley is a generally considered to be a preventive herb of diseases, which includes rheumatism and cancer.

PARTS USED:
The whole plant.

DOSE:
As recommended above.

Normal Dosage For:

Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day.
Aged 6 to 9 years: 2 cups a day
Aged 2 to 5 years: 1 cup a day
1 to 2 years: 1/2 cup a day
Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day

A Useful Table for Quick Measurements:
1 tbsp = 5 grams (green herb)
1 dessertspoon = 2 grams (dry herb)
1 teaspoon = 25 drops
1 cup = 16 tbsp


1 litre = 7 or 8 cups
