The Indian Coral Tree is often planted for its very attractive and brightly coloured flowers. Its grows to a height of over 18 metres and has a grey bark that is armed with small conical prickles. It belongs to the bean family Fabaceae or Papilionaceae. The compound leaves of this deciduous tree bear 10-15
leaflets and each of them is about 15-30 cm. long. The red or white flowers are found in clusters on the racemose inflorescences that are 10-23 cm. long. The dark brown pods are 12.5-30 cm. long and contain 4-8 subreniform or kidney shaped brown seeds.
MEDICINAL USE:
*Earache, oedema, skin disorders and wounds.
*Convulsions, insomnia, fever, cough, dysuria or painful urination, and dysmenorrhoea or painful
menstruation.
HOW TO USE:
*The juice of the leaves may be used externally to take care of earache, oedema, skin disorders and
wounds.
*The decoction of the leaves may be used to take care of convulsions, insomnia, fever, cough,
dysuria, and dysmenorrhoea.
PARTS USED:
*The leaves.
DOSE:
As recommended above.
Normal Dosage For:
Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day.
Aged 6 to 9 years: 2 cups a day
Aged 2 to 5 years: 1 cup a day
1 to 2 years: 1/2 cup a day
Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day
