Milk Bush

The Milk Bush is a common spurge belonging to the plant family Euphorbiaceae. It grows on wasteland and is often planted as a hedge. If undisturbed, the plant will grow up to be average sized tree. It is easily identifiable as it does not have any prominent leaves. This milkweed produces a large number of green, weak, cylindrical branches that diffuse in all directions. Small linear deciduous leaves, 6-13 mm. long, may be seen during the rainy season. Although it is very succelent in nature like the cacti, it does not belong to the group. Even a superficial injury to the stem releases the milky latex contained in the cells.
