The Spanish Cherry tree is a medium, smooth and hairless tree that grows to a height of 12-15 metres. It belongs to the plant family Sapotaceae. The opposite and alternately positioned leaves are 6.3-10 cm. long and are elliptic with a rounded base. The white flowers are fragrant and are about 2.5 cm. long, ovoid and yellow or red when ripe. The seeds is ovoid, compressed and brown in colour.
MEDICINAL USE:
*Anthelmintic, cardiotonic and controls biliousness.
*Halitosis or bad breath, ulcers of the mouth, and gum infection.
*Chronic dysentery.
*Headache.
HOW TO USE:
*The decoction of the bark in used to expel worms. It is also used as a tonic for the heart and to
control the excessive secretion of bile.
*Young twigs may be used as a toothbrush to take care of halitosis or bad breath, ulcers of the
mouth, and gum infection.
*To take care of chronic dysentery, take one teaspoon of fully ripe fruit pulp with one cup of warm
water.
*To control headaches, the finely powdered dry flowers are use as 'snuff '.

Normal Dosage For:
Adults: 4 or 5 cups a day.
Aged 6 to 9 years: 2 cups a day
Aged 2 to 5 years: 1 cup a day
1 to 2 years: 1/2 cup a day
Below 1 year: 1/4 or less cup a day
